The Georgia Aquarium is a public aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia, US. It houses more than a hundred thousand animals and represents several thousand species, all of which reside in 10 million US gallons (38,000 m3) of marine and salt water.[1][2] It was the largest aquarium in the world from its opening in 2005 until 2012, when it was surpassed by Marine Life Park in Singapore.[5]

A $250 million donation from businessman Bernard Marcus’s foundation provided the bulk of the money needed to build and stock the new facility.

Every day, researchers in the Aquarium’s exhibits and labs are learning more about marine life in order to develop new methods of animal care and veterinary medicine. By combining field research with the study of on-site animals in a controlled environment, the Aquarium is contributing to the advancement of human knowledge in the area of animal science.

Keep Atlanta traffic in mind when you visit the Aquarium. For up-to-date traffic information, route your trip through Google Maps.
Due to construction, access to Georgia Aquarium’s main entrance via Baker and Luckie Street is closed. We advise using the east pedestrian walkway via the 2nd floor of the parking garage to enter the Aquarium.
